At BUILT, we set up professional websites for tradespeople across the UK, and as part of that, we also help you establish your Google Business Profile if you do not already have one. This profile is incredibly valuable. It helps your business appear in local search results, builds trust with potential customers, and makes it easier for people to contact you directly.
But there’s something important we need to share with you about what has been happening with Google Business Profiles recently.
Google Is Suspending Lots of Profiles
Over the past few months, we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of Google Business Profiles being suspended. This applies to both brand new profiles and existing ones. Right now, more than half of the profiles we create are being suspended shortly after verification.
This is not specific to your business. It is not something you have done wrong and it is not a result of any error on our part. Unfortunately, Google seems to be applying stricter rules and more aggressive checks across the board, especially in certain industries like trades.
What Typically Happens
Once your profile is created and verified, it may look like everything is working fine for a day or two. Then, quite suddenly, you might receive a notice from Google saying that your profile has been suspended.
This is frustrating. We completely understand that. But please be assured, we deal with this regularly, and we will support you through the next steps.

What We Do When a Profile Is Suspended
As soon as we’re notified that a profile has been suspended, we begin the appeal process. This involves filling out a form and submitting a request for Google to review and reinstate your listing.
We handle this on your behalf.
To give the appeal the best possible chance of being successful, we will ask you to send us a couple of documents that help prove your business is genuine. These could include:
- A utility bill with your company’s name and address
- A letter from Companies House
- A letter from HMRC
- Any official documentation that includes your business name and registered address
These documents are used as part of the appeal to demonstrate to Google that your business is legitimate and active.
What Happens Next
Once the appeal has been submitted, we wait to hear back from Google.
Sometimes they respond within a few days. Other times, it can take weeks. Unfortunately, this is out of our hands. There’s no number we can call and no guaranteed way to speed things up. Everything goes through their internal support systems and forms.
While we’ll always chase things up where possible, we ask for your patience during this process. We’ll keep you updated with any progress, and we’ll always do what we can to help your profile get reinstated.
Reassurance
We know it’s not ideal. You want to get your business listed and seen as soon as possible. But again, this situation is common and not unique to you. We are actively monitoring how Google handles these cases and we will continue to do everything we can to support you and give your profile the best chance of going live successfully.
Thanks for trusting us to help you get online. If you have any questions or concerns about your profile, just drop us a message. We're here to help.
